EME171 Analysis, Simulation, and Design of Mechatronic Systems
Undergraduate course, University of California, Davis, 2021
Learning outcomes of the course
- Model and analyze dynamic systems,
- Define objectives for the performance of dynamic systems,
- Design computer simulations for dynamic systems, and
- Communicate effectively the results of modeling studies orally and in writing.
System simulation (labs)
General steps for building the simulation of system:
- Translate ordinary differential equations (ODEs) into a Matlab function;
- Evaluates the equations at any given point in time;
- Numerically integrate ordinary differential equations with Matlab’s ode45;
- Create complete and legible plots of the resulting input, state, and output trajectories;
Lab Topics:
- Lab1: Introduction to Simulation (Quarter car system)
- Lab2: Two DoF Quarter Car Model
- Lab3: Motocross Pitch-Heave Model
- Lab4: Vibration Shaker Table
- Lab5: The Drowning of Sacramento
